An easy trip west on I-40

Hermitage is one of the simpler drives to our shop because I-40 does most of the work. The main variable is the downtown stretch, where lane shifts and merging traffic slow things at rush hour. Leaving mid-morning or early afternoon usually avoids the worst of it.

If you would rather stay home, a mobile appointment can save the trip. A level driveway or open parking space works best. Let us know whether the car sits under trees, in a carport or in a garage, since that affects how we plan the job.

Hermitage neighborhoods and ZIP codes

Hermitage uses ZIP code 37076. Customers contact us from around the Andrew Jackson Parkway, Lebanon Pike, Central Pike, Old Hickory Boulevard, Stewarts Ferry Pike, Tulip Grove and Pennington Bend areas. Neighbors in nearby Donelson and Old Hickory sometimes share the same driving route.

Rural parts of Hermitage have longer private drives and gravel lanes, so tell us about the access. A narrow gravel drive can affect where we park and how we reach the car.

03

Roads, lake weather and glass

Percy Priest Lake and the surrounding wooded areas create humid summers and damp mornings, and storms move through fast. Sudden temperature changes are hard on a cracked windshield, because a small crack can run when cold air hits a warm windshield.

Lebanon Pike and I-40 carry commuters and freight, and construction on those roads kicks up gravel. If you see a chip after a drive, protect it from moisture and dirt with a small piece of clear tape and call for an assessment.

04

Protecting your glass between visits

Hermitage drivers often park outdoors or under trees. Sap, acorns and falling limbs are normal hazards, and sun and humidity are hard on seals and edges. Keep wipers in good shape, because worn blades drag grit across glass and make small scratches worse.

If you see a chip, avoid washing the car with high-pressure water pointed at it, and do not pick at it. Leaving the damage clean and dry gives a repair the best chance to work. A chip that has collected dirt or water may still be repairable, but results vary, and the technician makes that call on inspection.

Owners of classic or older vehicles should call early. Glass for older models can take longer to source, and we would rather tell you the timeline up front than leave you guessing.
