What to do while you wait for the repair
If a window has been broken, cover the opening with heavy plastic and tape that will not damage the paint, and keep the vehicle out of the rain if you can. Do not drive with broken glass still in the door, and watch for small fragments on the seats and floor. Our technicians clean out the door and the cabin as part of a side glass replacement.
If a windshield chip is the problem, avoid slamming the doors and avoid washing the car with hot water until it is assessed. Park in the shade if you can, since heat can make a crack travel. Then take a photo and call. We can often tell from the picture whether the damage is a repair candidate.
